Several interesting links to last week’s jazz news. Charlie Haden’s musical spirit is still being celebrated and honored in New York. His playing is absolutely timeless; always fresh and exciting. I was fortunate to see him live several times, including one frustrating time in which one his solos was washed out by a lowing flying airplane. Cheers to Charlie Haden.
- A bunch of musicians celebrated the life of Charlie Haden. I’m sure this was an amazing event. (missing things like is this is another reason to miss living in New York).
- Flying with your instrument IS A PAIN.
- Here is a ridiculous story about jazz and Ireland. The history of jazz in Europe is quite an interesting one, and this only makes it more intriguing. That date – 1921 – is pretty early for jazz to be spreading. The English learn quick!
